How do I become a friend of wine women and philosophy?
We have four types of friends...
benefactor friends These are individuals, groups or associations which believe in our vision of a school that caters to the specific educational needs of women. They support us financially or through their provision of services or facilities.
The support of our honorary benefactor, Robin Worthington, has enabled us to turn our dream of wine women and philosophy into a reality. Her commitment to lifelong education for women of all ages and backgrounds, as well as her love of activity - she was an enthusiastic skier, tennis player, book club and bridge club member - has been a constant inspiration to us. Please contact us if you would like to join Robin in being a benefactor friend of wine women and philosophy. If you are looking for an idea, here is one way that you can play a key role in ensuring that wine women philosophy continues to be enriched by the involvement of dedicated and inspiring women.
The Marcelle Scholarship
The Marcelle Scholarship was set up by a membership friend in acknowledgment of the role that her mother has played in encouraging her educational pursuits and inspiring her active engagement with the world around her. Marcelle is a woman who values the importance of learning and trying new things, and who fights for those things she believes in. Her commitment to political and social causes has never wavered, even when that choice demands courage and sacrifice. Marcelle's sense of humour and sharp wit is a constant through good times and not so good times, and her joyful outlook on life definitely rubs off on others.
The scholarship that bears her name is set up to ensure that women who have contributed a great deal to wine women and philosophy get to come on a weekend of their choice, free of charge. If you would like to know more about contributing to this scholarship fund please contact us. |
Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.

Friendship dances round the world, proclaiming to us all to wake up and congratulate one another.

membership friends
These are individuals who pay an annual membership of $50 to demonstrate their ongoing support and active participation in the shaping and flourishing of wine women and philosophy. An annual membership guarantees you a priority place on any of our weekends, and an accommodation upgrade at no extra cost. It also entitles you to attend member's salon evenings, and bridge club which are held in different locations throughout the year. For those of you who would like to become one of our growing number of membership friends please complete the attached membership form.
salonnière friends These are individuals who share the hosting duties with us on one or more of the weekends. They are integral to the design, spirit and delivery of the weekend that they co-host with us. We attribute the success of our school and our women-centred pedagogy to the particular knowledges, passions and enthusiasms that each of our salonnière friends brings to wine women and philosophy. If you have a special area of interest that you would like to share with other women, please contact us about becoming a salonnière.weekend friends These are individuals who have participated in one of our wwp weekends and are telling others about their experience. Women are tremendous communicators - and we count on those of you who have been on one of our weekends to spread the news to other women about wine women and philosophy. Being a weekend friend can also mean participating in our blog after your weekend is over, and generally keeping in touch with us about your ongoing educational pursuits. We value women's stories about those learning experiences that have moved them in a special way. We look forward to hearing from you, as well as seeing you on another one of our wwp weekends. |
