What makes us unique?
We are a philosophy school for women that offers far more than just a course. We celebrate the new freedoms that women feel as they get older and put their life experiences into perspective. We take seriously what women have to say about the joys and challenges that accompany these new freedoms and we turn their insights into philosophy. For this is what philosophy is : an engagement with thinking and doing that prompts us to ask questions and ignites our creative and reflective side.
We encourage women to experiment with new ideas and in so doing, you help us - Linnet and Rona - to develop a community of inquiry. We are working hard to create spaces for women that are friendly, safe and welcoming: places where women who are curious about philosophy can grow and flourish in the company of like-interested women. |

What do we offer?
For our membership friends and their guests, we run bi-monthly salon evenings and an exciting line-up of philosophy club experiences. These have take place at our school premises - the Nurtury - in the lower Laurentians, and in different locations in and around Montreal. And this September, we're branching out further! For women who want to put on a one-off event for their friends or colleagues, we will come to your home or workplace and run a customized 3 hour salon experience. Here's what it looks like... Remember when you were 8 and your mother put on a party for you with a treasure hunt, pin the tail on the donkey, and musical chairs? Well, the activities have changed but the spirit of shared endeavour is the same. Catering to the thinking woman who wants to bring women together for a one-of-a-kind communal learning experience, we bring the same creative energy and sense of fun to these events as our mothers did when putting on our childhood birthday parties. Each of our one-off salon experiences is organized around a central theme and involves a mixture of philosophical exploration, lively discussion and group activity. You can choose the theme yourself and we'll run with it. Alternatively, you can take inspiration from the many successful events we have already put on and we'll grow something unique for you out of this.
